    Data Visualization as Problem Solving

Curious about what our graduate classes are like at DePaul? We invite you to attend our Faculty Talk on Data Visualization as Problem Solving, led by Hai Long Tran, Associate Professor of Journalism. This lecture series is open to all prospective and newly admitted students.

From a functionalist perspective, the conscious act of creating visual displays of information is similar to engineering. Visualized data serve as tools for the mind, much like devices that help people explore information. To be effective, data visualization must fulfill its purpose—we must understand precisely what question needs to be addressed, what information needs to be conveyed, and whether the chosen visual form is the most effective way to communicate the message.

Join us for an engaging discussion on how data visualization can be a powerful tool for problem-solving!
