Emotional Intelligence in Work and Life

Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 12:00 PM until 1:00 PMCentral Daylight Time UTC -05:00

The term “soft skills” has been used for years to refer to the abilities that constitute “emotional intelligence” (EI) and it is a misnomer. There is nothing soft about the impact these attributes have on our effectiveness at work, in relationships, in civic life, and in managing our own growth and development.

Join us as we delve into the topic of EI. This webinar, led by SCPS resident expert, Donna Younger, Ed.D., will provide a concise description of the field of EI, an overview of the research assessing its impact on the success and satisfaction of individuals, and an exploration of the key skills of EI, including the Big 3—Optimism, Empathy and Resilience. In addition, we will examine ways that organizations have intentionally used emotional intelligence in selection, training, performance assessment, and succession planning.
