Course: Advanced Labor Leadership: Collective Bargaining and Labor-Management RelationsLearn about the many aspects of collective bargaining, including researching employers, costing out the contract, surveying members for contract priorities, preparing contract language and proposals, tools for effective negotiations, interest based bargaining benefits and hazards, recognizing surface bargaining, internal organizing, strike preparation and alternatives to strike, and ratifying the contract. We will also provide an overview of labor-management relations during and after negotiations. In the final weeks, you will participate in a collective bargaining role-play. *This class is offered every fall.
This certificate program is intended for union, worker center and community-based organization members, staff, activists, and Executive Board officers. You are welcome to enroll at any level: Beginner (Working knowledge of topics), Competent (Good working and background knowledge of topics), or Proficient (Depth of understanding of topics).
