Learn project management by jumping into the lifecycle of a typical project. Over the course of the program, you will learn how to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close a project, using the best and most common practices in project management, according to the standards set by the Project Management Institute(PMI)®. The Project Management Certificate Program can be used to prepare for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam or to obtain Continuing Education Units (CEUs). DePaul's Management Development Center has been reviewed and approved as a provider of project management training by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. The Project Management Certificate Program is a 12-week course that will lead you through the entire life cycle of a project. The program will cover the following topics:
What is the format of this course? There are graded discussions with an initial deadline of Thursday night and a final deadline of Sunday night. There are quizzes in several modules which are also due on Sunday nights. This will help you to plan your time accordingly during the week. Online means that the course content is delivered via D2L by selecting the Content link. Although we will be moving through the content in sequential order, (one module per week), all of the content for all 12 modules is already here for you in case you like to look ahead.Asynchronous means that unlike a face-to-face course where you need to be in a classroom with the instructor and other students at a specified place and time, this course is delivered entirely online, with no face-to-face requirement. The Module overviews take the place of the in-person lecture, and you may review these as quickly as you like or as slowly as you need to fit your pace. And you may keep and review these as you like; they are the same as the lecture provided in the in-person class. You may participate in the class the discussion forums at a time which fits your schedule within the established due dates. Can I earn PDUs with this program? PMP® certificants can earn Professional Development Units (PDUs) toward license renewal by taking the Project Management Certificate Program. Each contact hour is equivalent to one PDU. Licensed professionals in other industries may qualify to earn Continuing Education (CE) credit. Students should contact their respective licensing body to ensure they meet the requirements. What is the difference between a certificate and a certification? A certificate is earned after completion of a course or a series of courses. Certificates are usually awarded by a training provider or an educational institution. Certification typically includes an experience, an educational component and requires passing an exam. Certifications are awarded by governmental and/or professional agencies and often require recertification to remain certified. Are books included in the tuition fee? Books are not included in the tuition fee. All other class materials are covered in the tuition fee and will be distributed as appropriate. Does this program qualify for financial assistance through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)? In order to find out if you qualify for financial assistance, you must first contact Workforce Development. As a certified program under the ILLINOIS workNet initiative, this program has been approved for workforce training grants for those who are eligible. Funding may be available for those receiving unemployment benefits. Please contact Workforce Development for more information. Is this an exam-prep course for the PMP® Exam? No. Its purpose is to expose you to the latest practices and standards in the field of project management. It does fulfill the 35-hour education requirement set forth by the Project Management Institute for anyone who intends to sit for the exam.
