This course is for professionals who are embarking on an HR career including recent college graduates who have an interest in HR, armed services men and women who would like to make the transition to a civilian profession and professionals seeking a career transition into the HR field.

Do I need an HR background?
No. If you are considering a career in HR, this program will provide the foundational knowledge of Human Resources needed for early HR career roles.

Yes. There is one required text:

Are books included in the tuition fee?
No. The textbook is not included in the tuition fee.
Is there a certification exam?
Yes. Beginning in November 2016, HRCI will offer the aPHR™ exam throughout the year. More information on testing can be found at www.hrci.org.
Will I be certified when I complete the program?
No. You will need to take the HR Certification Institute’s aPHR™ examination. For complete details, visit the HRCI web site at www.hrci.org.
Is the application fee for the aPHR™ included in the program fees?
No. The application fee for the aPHR™ examination is not covered in the course fee. You may obtain information on the application and qualifications for the examination from the HR Certification Institute at (866) 898-4724 or from their web site at www.hrci.org.
Are classes taught in class or online?
Classes are offered in class on DePaul's Loop Campus and in an online format.
What are the computer requirements for this program?
Consistent access to a computer with an Internet connection and an email account is required for all online courses.

In order to communicate fully with fellow students and the course instructor you will need e-mail. If you do not have an e-mail service you can get one for free from a service like Gmail.
How many hours will I have to devote to this online course each week?
The average student will need to spend at least three to six hours per week to complete the required coursework for this program.
Is there a final exam?
Yes. At the end of the program there will be a multiple-choice final and then a discussion of next steps and using the course toward HR career goals. The final exam is not a substitute for the HRCI aPHR™ certification exam.
What qualifications are required to take the aPHR™ exam offered by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI)?
To sit for the aPHR™ exam you must have a high school diploma or global equivalent.
I registered for an online class, when will I receive my login information?
You should receive your login information at least two (2) business days prior to the course start date. However, if you registered less than seven (7) days prior to the course start date, you may experience a delay in access to the online course site. You may not receive your login until 2-5 business days after the course start date.
