Why has DePaul University chosen to offer a Certificate in Paralegal Studies?
When considering a career as a paralegal, you have the option of pursuing a four-year bachelor's degree, a two-year associate's degree, or a paralegal certificate program. DePaul has chosen to offer a certificate program for the following reasons:
- Audience: While traditional degree programs may be suitable for students considering law school, our certificate program is designed for individuals with limited education, limited or no work experience, or those who do not plan to pursue a law degree. It focuses exclusively on paralegal skills, making it ideal for career changers or those seeking to enhance their current employment.
- Time: Our certificate program allows students to concentrate their studies on paralegal skills, eliminating the need for general education courses often required in longer programs. This intensive format provides comprehensive training in a shorter timeframe.
- Cost: The focused nature of our program enables us to offer it at a competitive price, making it accessible to many students.
- Industry Reception: The DePaul Paralegal Studies Certificate Program has been well-received by the Chicago legal community. We believe that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the paralegal profession.
