    International Baccalaureate Educator Certificate Program

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) has recognized four DePaul University’s International Baccalaureate Educator programs:

    1. Teaching and Learning in a Global Context for Primary Years Programme (PYP)
    2. Teaching and Learning in a Global Context for Middle Years Programme (MYP)
    3. Teaching and Learning in a Global Context for Diploma Programme (DP)
    4. IB Certificate in Leadership Practice (LP)

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) focuses on ages 3-12, IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) focuses on ages 11-16, IB Diploma Programme (DP) focuses on ages 16-19, and IB Certificate in Leadership Practice (LP) focuses on all ages.

For each IBEC program, current teachers will complete four fully online modules/courses which contain field experiences in IB schools. Participants are brought into International Baccalaureate schools to directly experience and engage in IB education, allowing current IB teachers to provide collaboration and expertise to guide student learning.

Geared toward preparing professionals to work in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, this graduate-level program provides instruction related to the IB history and philosophy, curriculum design and methodology, the assessment of learning, and the use of student data for instructional decision-making.

The IB Certificate Programs are rolling registration and available 24/7 online; they do not meet on specific dates. The courses are available on D2L (Desire2Learn), DePaul’s online learning management system. It takes approximately two business days to gain access to D2L.

    REQUIREMENTS

The prerequisite for enrollment in the IBEC program and in each course is that the learner has earned a baccalaureate degree or higher in education or a related field. Experience in International Baccalaureate is not required, NOR is employment in an IB school.

*International students, please email IB@depaul.edu directly for registration.  If you have any difficulties or questions about the program, please email IB@depaul.edu.
