Course: Self-Paced Module 1: Fundamentals of Financial Planning & Insurance Planning

DePaul’s Self-Paced Fundamentals of Financial Planning provides an overview of the financial planning and insurance industry. You’ll learn the basic terminology of financial planning and develop a thorough understanding of insurance basics, risk management strategies, evaluation of client data, the concept of the time value of money, and the ethical considerations necessary for successful financial planners.

This 11-week course is the first module in the Financial Planning Certificate Program. Classes are offered in a self-paced format on a quarterly schedule. Students are not required to participate in a live Zoom session; instead, they have the flexibility to watch prerecorded classes at their convenience. Certifications are awarded by governmental and/or professional agencies and often require recertification to remain certified.
